Smuggler Marine has seen an upsurge in the popularity of their 800 Mid Cabin Amphibious model, with now over a dozen on order from their West Auckland factory.

A number of the proven and capable 800 Mid Cabins Amphibious RIBs have found their way to Waiheke Island for discerning owners wanting more from their boating experience.

“The demand for our Amphibious models, especially the 800 is growing on Waiheke, as well as other coastal communities,” says Smuggler Marine Managing Director, David Pringle. 

“There are at least three of our 800 owners on Waiheke Island using their boats not only for general boating activities around the Island etc, but they are using it as a form of transport to and from the island.”

“There are a couple of owners who have holiday homes on the island, and keep their boat in the dry stack and use it to commute to the island – no more ferries!”

“It’s also not uncommon to see one parked in the car park at Half Moon Bay or Westhaven.”

Smuggler’s Strata 800 Mid Cabin combines the proven 27-degree Smuggler hull with Orion amphibious technology, bringing boaties a superior engineered amphibious RIB. 

Described as a serious, capable, soft riding hull, with 250 litres fuel capacity, and many options to suit your needs. The 800 Mid Cabin gives crew a comfortable completely dry ride, and with the added bonus of the separate forward lounge area for socializing, accessed by wide walk platforms on either side of the cabin.

Matched with four-stroke outboards from 200-300hp, the 800 Mid Cabin is capable of speeds up to 50 knots.
